- Basket Case was a prolific, though short-lived Detroit three piece fleshing out a still yet-to-be-translated jazz language in their own Michigan Progressive tradition. Conceived (and quickly brought to term) in late 1998 initially as “Mr. Asthma”, Basket Case was born fully formed in mid-April 1999, given life by Lisa Colwell, Geoff Walker, and John Olson. Featured here are two live transmissions, recorded at the Gold Dollar and Magic Stick bars in 1999, committed by lathe in anticipation of the upcoming Basket Case 2xCD collection featuring selections of their most blasted progressions captured in confusing and beautiful fidelity at the end of the 20th century.
